Hollywood has long been a cauldron of Progressivism. Remember Sen. McCarthy in the 1950’s? Had he not discredited his theories with his own alcoholism, maybe things could have been yanked up back then. Remember the “Black List” of Hollywood stars, directors, writers, etc suspected (or known) to be Communist sympathizers? They weren’t planning a violent coup. Instead, they created program after program that subtly and progressively dismantled or mocked what most Americans know as “traditional American values.” So who or what governs your morality?

If you compare the programs of the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s to the programs today, what are the most obvious differences? Look closely, the progression from the respectful, kind, and caring family programs like Bonanza (1959-1973), Combat (1962-1967), Flipper (1963-1967), Waltons (1971-1981), Little House on the Prairie (1974-1983), Lassie (1954-1974), and dozens more to the what seem to be hideously biased Progressive TV “comedies” that represent the lower possibilities of human interaction … and they’re presented as the Best New TV Comedies of 2013, which are a smorgasbord of base behaviors. Really? This is the BEST we can do?

There was a time not so long ago when at least some in Hollywood had a glimpse of the potential for their industry to impact the population for GOOD! Under the guise of entertainment, at least some writers and producers sought to motivate people to “improve” themselves: either improve their circumstances via hard work and education, or “improve” their character by inspiring people to a more virtuous life.

PoliticalCorrectnessAmerican culture, too, rewarded those who worked toward self-improvement. Lifelong loyalty at work was rewarded with retirement. A “clean life” was desirable, and was often rewarded with success. Now, in contrast, a “clean life” is a joke, often the brunt of jokes like the football player, Tim Tebow. Even worse, it seems many cajole such virtuous individuals in the hope they will “fall!” We don’t hear about the alcoholic that succeeds in living “dry” and rebuilding his life, but the press circles especially celebrities with alcohol or drug issues just waiting for them to self-destruct … and we, the people keep buying the trash they give us.

Although still recovering from his injuries overseas, Sgt. Sanchez insisted on leaving his electric wheelchair to walk the flag down Main Street, U.S.A., saying “If it’s for the colors, I’ll walk"

Although still recovering from his injuries overseas, Sgt. Sanchez insisted on leaving his electric wheelchair to walk the flag down Main Street, U.S.A., saying “If it’s for the colors, I’ll walk”

What do you suppose would happen if We, the People demanded, by virtue of our dollars, more wholesome, virtuous movies and TV programs? Is morality really old-fashioned or just too hard for today’s weak-willed citizen? Must every TV sitcom be about SEX? Is there such a thing as a loving relationship that does NOT focus on SEX? If we say we, as a society, are dismayed by the 50% divorce rate, might we not seek solutions rather than further exploitations? If we’re concerned about the violence in our society, might we not question the “gangsta” lifestyle endorsed by many high profile musicians? Is there anything FUN besides SEX?

What do you care about? What motivates your choices? As much as I disagree with the blind hatred of Islamic fighters, on some level, I respect their commitment to a cause, although it is driven more by fear and hate than real devotion, it seems. Most Americans are not devoted to anything bigger than themselves … even many who claim a religion. Is there anything worth living for? worth fighting for? worth dying for?

FUN with WORDS: Homophones

An old joke tells of someone asking the assistant at a paper shop: ‘Do you keep stationery?’ and she replies: ‘No, I wriggle about a bit.’ She clearly thought he meant the word that is spelt ‘stationary’. There are many pairs of words like this, which sound the same but are spelt differently. They are called homophones or sometimes homonyms.

Identify the pairs of homophones from the following clues.

Example: One word means a place for keeping aircraft; the other word means a shaped piece of wood, metal, etc. on which you can hang clothes.
Answer: Hangar/hanger.

1. One word means simple; the other means an aircraft.

2. One word means expected; the other word means condensed vapour (vapor).

3. One word is nautical; the other is central to the body.

4. One word means connections; the other is an animal.

light-vs-dark

“A society is judged by how it protects the most vulnerable, those unable to protect themselves. In the case of abortion on demand magnified by abortion just before or just after the baby is born, America has been found wanting.” More HERE!

LIFE is very important. Maybe not everyone has realized this, but it is! In fact, without LIFE, there is only … nothing! Void! Emptiness! LIFE is EVERYTHING. LIFE is purpose! LIFE is hope.

Jesus said, “A thief comes to steal and kill and destroy,
but I came to give life—life in all its fullness.”

John 10: 10

A horrendous darkness has been exposed hidden away, ironically, in the birthplace of the American Experiment in self-governance. Since early in the 1970’s, our society has been drifting into the dark hole while millions of ignorant or apathetic Americans looked the other way. Some of us saw the darkness, others made excuses for its existence. But now, the world knows, and strangely (or not-so-strangely) the media, who should be conscientiously detailing the events for the benefit of the population and would-be victims, is deadly silent. Why so silent? Is there no journalistic pride amongst today’s media moguls?

Kermit-Gosnell130412

“One reason may be that the trial of late-term abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell for multiple counts of murder is about an African-American killing mainly African-American babies — and so the common sense among liberals, or, as a friend of mine would say, the “coven-sense,” is that such a story disparages that community. This is something newspapers are loath to do. In much the same manner that they cannot dwell upon the causes of hand gun violence in inner city black communities. Or perhaps they view these killings as prophylactic: one cure for out-of-wedlock births.

Dr Solomon's Decision - a story of Life

Dr Solomon’s Decision – a story of Life

“But perhaps an even more telling reason for ignoring the Gosnell story is that among the terrible details is revealed the fact that many, many babies being aborted late-term survive the process — not just a tiny few, as pro-abortionists keep insisting. And so these innocent little souls have to be murdered.

“In Dr. Gosnell’s clinic, typically by cutting their heads off. In one instance, a child arrived on the table with its eyes and jaw torn off by Gosnell’s forceps. While this helpless, sinless, creature lay writhing on the table, screaming, Dr. Gosnell gestured impatiently at an assistant — do something about that.

“How many children were so murdered? I believe that Gosnell’s charged with seven counts, but testimony indicates there may have been a hundred — maybe more, maybe a lot more. And so the liberal press, ever supportive of a woman’s right to “choose,” just can’t have that known.” READ MORE via Working Up to Auschwitz

POL AT Life after birthMaybe a hundred babies … and it’s not newsworthy? The administration has decided we-the-people don’t need to know this? There are other more vital matters for the people to know and understand? What’s the big deal? Just a few babies?

My heart cries not just for Americans, but for those waiting for Americans to return to their heritage and BE the LIGHT in this darkening world! Sadly, many are merely lining up in agreement with the policies that permit, and even condone, this devaluation of LIFE! Do we really want to experience the tyranny and poverty known by many parts of the world? Whether driven by faith or humanity, compassion costs. MONEY is not evil; it is the LOVE OF MONEY that destroys! Policy makers and population alike, we are ALL doomed if we don’t WAKE UP, AMERICA, and start acting like Grown ups!!!!!

“We make a living by what we get,
we make a life by what we give.”

Sir Winston Churchill (1874 – 1965)

The Reverend Robert Hunt gives thanks with other English settlers at Cape Henry, Virginia in April 1607.

“No people can be bound to acknowledge and adore
the Invisible Hand which conducts the affairs of men
more than those of the United States.
Every step by which they have advanced
to the character of an independent nation
    seems to have been distinguished
by some token of providential agency …”

    George Washington, First Inaugural Address

When the first boats touched ground in the New World, their immediate response was GRATITUDE to GOD. Whether Jamestown or Plimouth, they were grateful for safe arrival for those who survived.

Their focus was not on their losses but on their success. Even through the hardships of those first years, the settlers were compelled to acknowledge the hand of a Sovereign God in their early literature, poetry, and the education of their young. The literary works of Early Americans like William Bradford (1590 – 1657), Gov of Plymouth Colony, Anne Bradstreet (1612-1672), Poet & homemaker, and Cotton Mather (1663-1728) Clergyman and scientist, clearly reflect the prominent place given to God in early American culture.

    It was understood that …

  • without God’s intervention in the crossing, none would have survived.
  • Without His provision through that first and subsequent winters, none would have flourished.
  • Without God’s sovereign help, the colonies of the New World would never have made it to the Revolutionary period, to break free from Britain, and to thrive in this experiment of self-rule and grow into the most generous, most gracious, most compassionate, yet most powerful nation on earth.

  • This was God’s design. The impoverished are not capable of offering material help to others, but the FREEDOMS born in AMERICA, created a society that was highly productive, creative, and innovative. These freedoms allowed individuals to create wealth which was shared generously with many other nations making AMERICA the giving-est nation in the world! God blessed America with vast resources so we could share with a needy, oppressed world, not join them in their oppression!

Time issue of April 8, 1966

Time issue of April 8, 1966

BUT somewhere along the line, we started taking credit for our success. Prayer was removed from schools, and God was declared DEAD. Those who worship God were told to keep it to themselves and not “force” others to endure such silliness.

The “capstone” was the legalization of murder … the murder of unborn children. A scan through history will reveal that NO CULTURE that killed its young survived long. Respect for LIFE is a vital moral, ethical, legal, and social marker of the health of a nation. Today, not only are we aborting unborn children, but there is a HOT debate about the killing of babies born alive. Many are simply okay with this because … well, who wants to allow unwanted (or inconvenient) babies to live? Many also believe euthanasia, (the PC label is “mercy killing” – but it is killing nonetheless) is acceptable.

GRATITUDEHow quickly America forgot her heritage, her roots, her raison d’être. How quickly we allowed our history to be perverted and twisted into fiction that serves the political good of those in power. How quickly we blame God when tragedy strikes, but how quickly we push His wisdom away when it doesn’t FEEL good.

God is surely NOT DEAD, and He is not blind to the ingratitude the fills our airways, our markets, and our homes. The sobering thing is that He will not wait forever for us to return to Him … He is very much involved in what is happening in AMERICA today. The hardships in our nation and our world are supposed to turn us to Him, to remind us that He is bigger than we are, smarter than we are, and knows BETTER than we do how to “save the world!”

When was the last time you said THANK YOU to GOD for anything?

The Harbinger: The Ancient Mystery that Holds the Secret of America's Future

    USYouth

“Some world call it tolerance,I said.

“Yes,” he replied, “the same tolerance that overtook ancient Israel…a tolerance for immorality and a growing intolerance for the pure–a tolerance that mocked, marginalized, and condemned those who remained faithful to the values now being discarded. Innocence was ridiculed and virtue was vilified. Children were taught of sexual immorality in public schools while the Word of God was banned. It was a tolerance that put the profane on public display and removed nativity scenes from public sight…contraband, as if somehow they had become a threat–a strangely intolerance tolerance.” from The Harbinger: The Ancient Mystery that Holds the Secret of America’s Future

Above is an excerpt, a taste of an inspirational book. I have never been much for conspiracy theories, but neither do I believe in coincidence. Nothing happens by accident, so everything has a purpose at least one purpose, sometimes multiple purposes. I’ve only just started the book, but there is so far, nothing NEW in it, just a different presentation, a New Organization of the same things many of us have been saying for some time.

God has always sought a People to call His own. He is a God of Covenant. He made a Covenant with ancient Israel, but Israel repeatedly broke Covenant. Their rebellion brought about their own destruction – not a punishment, but the consequence of their own actions. Will America repeat Israel’s defiance and destroy herself, or will she heed the Harbingers, the warnings, the signs and even history? I pray we will humble ourselves, turn from our wicked ways and seek our loving God.

Ohio Vote Totals For Barack Obama A Statistical Miracle!

Ohio Vote Totals For Barack Obama
    A Statistical Miracle!

    By Tom Tillison
    Florida Political Press

Front Page Magazine is reporting that Barack Obama won Wood County in Ohio this year with 108% of registered voters. That’s not a typo.

Voter Fraud: Obama Won %108 of Registered Voters in Ohio County

In 2012, 106,258 people in Wood County are registered to vote out of an eligible 98,213. This is not to say that the 108% registered all voted for Obama, just that more people are registered than eligible.

Perhaps even more astonishing is FPM reports that he won 100% of the vote in 21 districts in Cleveland. Think about that… Ohio voters had 7 presidential candidates to choose from, plus the option to write in candidates of their choosing, yet every last voter in 21 districts chose Obama.

Gary Johnson, the candidate for disaffected Libertarians who received 43,479 votes here in Florida, was on the Ohio Ballot. And while Roseanne Barr was not, she did make it on the Florida ballot and the 7,971 misguided souls that voted for her shows that there are always going to be those who choose to follow their own path. Always.

    Except in Cleveland, Ohio.

Is that not a stunning consideration? As of early September, voting registration lists totaled 900,135 in Cuyahoga County, which makes up much of the Cleveland metropolitan area, so exactly how many votes do 15 districts represent? Thousands… tens of thousands?

Yet every last one, down to a man voted for Barack Obama – a statistical miracle!

Reports such as this are sure to trickle out around the country for weeks to come. We have become a very sick society and considering the current President of the United States once taught Saul Alinksy in college, who’s philosophy is the ends justify the means, rampant corruption should not come as a surprise.

While you may expect a thorough investigation to be launched, particularly so considering Ohio has a Republican governor, with a negligent media sure to suppress the story and an Obama Administration that can stonewall with the best of them (Fast & Furious, Benghazi), and with the American people ready to move on from the election, this is going nowhere fast.

And as long as the citizens of this country continue to deny the corruption exists, justify it in whatever manner or just look the other way, they are bringing irreparable harm upon future generations, who will ultimately pay the price for this lack of courage.

Unfortunately, any efforts to address the issue end up being hijacked by demagogues, with the Democratic Party typically pushing back for even fewer controls and accusing Republicans of racism and voter suppression, regardless of the proposal put forth.

    Times that try men’s souls…

The Life Cycle of a Nation

This article was originally posted after the Election in 2008 by Dr. Ignatius Piazza .

Our Founding Fathers were collectively the brightest, wealthiest, and most powerful men of their era. They risked everything they had by declaring their independence from what was, at that time, the greatest military and economic power in the world.

Quite frankly, we have not had such intellect, innovation, and “testicular fortitude” at the helm of our country since then, and I believe will never see men of such strong backbone in our government again.

Just over 200 years later, England is a shadow of its past world dominance and the United States has fallen so far away from the country our forefathers created for us that they would shed tears of dismay if they could walk among us today.

History provides a road map of where the US is heading…

    Is our demise inevitable?

No, but ONLY if we study the past and make the difficult, yet proper, decisions to prevent history from repeating itself in our country as it has done with every group of people before us, from every culture imaginable.

    Consider this:

About the time our original thirteen states adopted their new constitution in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years earlier:

  • ‘A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government.’
  • ‘A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.’
  • ‘From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.’
  • ‘The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years.’
  • ‘During those 200 years, those nations always progressed through the following sequence:

      1. from bondage to spiritual faith;
      2. from spiritual faith to great courage;
      3. from courage to liberty;
      4. from liberty to abundance;
      5. from abundance to complacency;
      6. from complacency to apathy;
      7. from apathy to dependence;
      8. from dependence back into bondage.

  • So where are we, citizens of the United States, in the historically proven Life Cycle of Nations?

Our latest election only confirms our downward spiral to be someplace on this ladder between step 5 and step 7. I was hoping we could avoid hitting bottom, but the fractured face of the groups in opposition to Obama failed to congeal behind Mitt Romney. Until We-the-People decide who we are and what our priorities are, we are in a free fall back into the kind of bondage that inspired our Founders to Revolt. Be that as it is, we have to find our North Star! We must see through the fog of misconceptions and deliberate deceptions and fan the flames of the FREEDOM that issue only from the hand of God.

Freedom inspires us to follow the dream within us. Freedom motivates us to find our purpose in making a product or providing a service to our fellow man because Freedom allows us to care for one another for real! Freedom is outwardly focused. This Freedom is God’s idea. It’s the Freedom endowed on all mankind that no government on earth can thwart or replace. This is what we must rediscover … and re-value.

The Navy Is Not an Anachronism

    The Patriot Post

“Freedom is something that cannot be passed on in the blood stream, or genetically. And it’s never more than one generation away from extinction. Every generation has to learn how to protect and defend it, or it’s gone and gone for a long, long time.” –Ronald Reagan

    Via The Patriot Post

“To be prepared for war, is one of the most effectual means of preserving peace.”
    George Washington

    Re: The Left

“[Barack Obama is] certainly not a very good debater. He showed it again [last] Monday night. Obama lost. His tone was petty and small. … That spirit led Obama into a major unforced error. When Romney made a perfectly reasonable case to rebuild a shrinking Navy, Obama condescended: ‘You mentioned … that we have fewer ships than we did in 1916. Well, Governor, we also have fewer horses and bayonets, because the nature of our military’s changed.’ Such that naval vessels are as obsolete as horse cavalry? Liberal pundits got a great guffaw out of this, but the underlying argument is quite stupid. As if the ships being retired are dinghies, skipjacks and three-masted schooners. As if an entire branch of the armed forces — the principal projector of American power abroad — is itself some kind of anachronism. ‘We have these things called aircraft carriers,’ continued the schoolmaster, ‘where planes land on them.’ This is Obama’s case for fewer vessels? Does he think carriers patrol alone? He doesn’t know that for every one carrier, 10 times as many ships sail in a phalanx of escorts? Obama may blithely dismiss the need for more ships, but the Navy wants at least 310 and the latest Quadrennial Defense Review Independent Panel report says that defending America’s vital interests requires 346 ships (versus 287 today). Does anyone doubt that if we continue, as we are headed, down to fewer than 230, the casualty will be entire carrier battle groups, precisely the kind of high-tech force multipliers that Obama pretends our national security requires?” –columnist Charles Krauthammer

    Government

“The Obama Administration’s disregard for the law has struck again — and this time, it’s encouraging others to violate the law at taxpayer expense. … The law in question is called the WARN Act, and it requires that federal contractors send employees layoff notices 60 days before a plant closing or mass layoff. The inconvenience: Massive defense spending cuts under sequestration are scheduled to hit on January 2, 2013. Defense contractors affected by the budget cuts would have to issue notice letters to employees by November 2 (four days before the election) to meet the January 2 start date for the spending cuts. The penalty taxpayers would pay: Employers who violate the WARN Act are liable to their former employees for ‘back pay for each day of a violation’ and ‘benefits under an employee benefit plan,’ as well as a penalty of $500 for each day that notice has not been sent to the local government where the layoffs will occur. As an example, Lockheed CEO Bob Stevens has said that 123,000 of his employees would receive layoff notices. If companies fail to meet the WARN Act’s deadline, lawsuits from employees could result — but the White House has provided a taxpayer-funded guarantee as a way to counter their fears of enormous litigation costs. This guarantee is not only unprecedented but also potentially unlawful. … This is the ultimate abuse of the President’s executive authority: inducing federal contractors to violate a federal law and promising to use taxpayer funds to reimburse them for any resulting liability that they incur for violating that law. Refusing to follow federal law has become the hallmark of this Administration, but the White House’s latest arrogant, unlawful ploy goes even further and may end up costing the American taxpayer a great deal of money.” —Heritage Foundation’s Hans von Spakovsky and Amy Payne

    For the Record

“The third-quarter GDP report was a nasty October surprise for a nation desperately in need of more jobs and higher take-home pay. The U.S. economy grew just 2.0% from July through September. At the current pace, the economy will grow just 1.8% this year, the same miserable pace as last year. … As it is, the weak recovery has put the U.S. into a deep, deep hole: The weak report leaves the economy on a growth path far below its potential. This is the ‘output gap.’ … If the recovery had been stronger, putting growth back on its traditional pace, cumulative GDP over the past five years would have been roughly $10.3 trillion higher. Or what if the Obama recovery had been as strong as the Reagan recovery? GDP this year would be $1.5 trillion higher than it is currently. Let’s say from here on out, the economy [grows] at trend, say 3% of so. Because we never had those powerful ‘catch up’ years of above average growth — say, 4% to 7% as in the Reagan recovery — GDP levels will be lower in the future than they would be otherwise. GDP in 2037 will be some $5 trillion lower. And cumulative GDP losses over those years will be close to $100 trillion. … The Great Recession never really ended. It just morphed into the Long Recession. And the Long Recession continues.” —American Enterprise Institute’s James Pethokoukis

    Insight

“I don’t know who started the idea that a President must be a politician, instead of a businessman. A politician can’t run any other kind of business, so there is no reason why he can run the U.S. That’s the biggest single business in the world.” –humorist Will Rogers (1879-1935)

    Culture

“I want to explain to you just how extremist the media is on abortion and just how much spinning in favor of killing kids the media does. According to Gallup polling, roughly a quarter of the population supports Richard Mourdock’s position on abortion — that the only exception in support of abortion should be the life of the mother. According to Gallup polling, roughly a quarter of the population supports Barack Obama’s position on abortion — any time during pregnancy until the moment of delivery. … When the media chooses to report stories about abortion, the media consistently chooses to report stories like Richard Mourdock’s statement and Todd Akin’s statement, both of whom believe that children conceived as a result of rape are still human beings entitled not to be ripped apart in utero and scraped out of the womb or whatever procedure the child killers use these days. … These members of the media have a vested interest in painting the pro-lifers as extreme and themselves as in the mainstream, despite an equal percentage of Americans agreeing with both sides. … Then, of course, they also shape the news.” —RedState.com managing editor Erick Erickson

Columbus, Freedom Works, Glenn Beck, Hurricane Sandy, OH, Time to Rise Again!, zero sum nation

    Tuesday 6 November 2012 America’s Rebirth begins

    Friday, Nov 2, 2012

Glenn Beck and Matt Kibbe held an event in the key swing state of Ohio to fire up people there and across the country with just four days left before the 2012 Election. Watch it in the video player above, and tune in Monday at 8pm ET on TheBlaze TV for a special broadcast of the program with behind-the-scenes footage.

Glenn opened the his keynote speech by reading a letter that he was given from a listener who was struggling with personal demons and ended up losing custody of his son and ended up living in a storage unit. In the letter, he described his struggles as well as how Glenn inspired him to get up and start turning his life around. He wrote a motto and committed to following it every day: The moment a man stops trying to do his very best is the moment a man starts to do his very worst. Today, the man who wrote Glenn that letter has turned his life around. He has rebuilt his life, advanced in his career, and gotten custody of his son back. He has rescued his credit and on his way to being debt free.

Glenn told the crowd America now faces a similar choice: Do we choose to stop being our best, and as a result start to become our worst? Or do we take a different path?

“We have become a zero sum nation,” he said. “One family goes up the ladder, another one has to come down.”

He explained that in a zero sum nation where people think that you can only do better at the expense of someone else, values like freedom, charity, merit and virtue are lost. As a result, America has become a handout nation, where people get trophies and awards just for showing up. Because this mentality believes that people can only improve their lot in life by taking from others, the solution becomes equality of outcome for everyone. When this happens, success, progress, and personal responsibility are all lose.

“That’s the choice we’ve been told we have to accept,” Glenn said.

Glenn, like many Americans, doesn’t believe that’s the way things have to be.

“This Tuesday you’re going to send a message to the whole world. On Wednesday we’re going to wake up to a new America,” Glenn said.

“Our choice on Tuesday is greatness, not mediocrity, but greatness. Not just holding on, but greatness. That is the choice: to be better than we ever have in our lifetime. It is an honor to be those people who strive to be so much more,” he said.

“We don’t want trophies for participation. We don’t want a prize just for showing up.We are the people that changed the world and now stand ready to change it for the better again! This is not something we hope for. This is something we do on Tuesday!”

Glenn also took time in his speech to touch on the events in Benghazi, pointing out that it was not the American way to leave people behind like that nor to order those who are able to help to stand down.

He also touched on New York City and the tragic aftermath of Hurricane Sandy that has seen many still trying to recover. Glenn said that despite the fact that many in New York treated he and his family like garbage over the past few years, he was proud to have been a part of Mercury One’s efforts to raise money for the relief. He announced on stage that the organization had raised over 1.2 million dollars in funds for the city because of donations from people like those in his audience Friday night.

“America this is your moment! Ohio this is your moment! This is the moment you lead us out! This is the moment where you give us courage and lead the way so America gets off the mat and knocks the bullies out.”

“This is the moment where your hands set the world free once again.”

To the citizens of the United States of America

    a "Foreigner's" View, Alternative perspective

To the citizens of the United States of America:

In the light of your failure to elect a proper President of the USA and thus to govern yourselves, we hereby give notice of the revocation of your independence, effective today.

Her Sovereign Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will resume monarchical duties over all states, commonwealths and other territories. (Except Utah, which she does not fancy.) Your new prime minister (The Right Honourable David Cameron, MP for the 97.85% of you who have until now been unaware that there is a world outside your borders) will appoint a minister for America without the need for further elections. Congress and the Senate will be disbanded. A questionnaire will be circulated next year to determine whether any of you noticed. To aid the transition to a British Crown Dependency, the following rules are introduced with immediate effect:

    1. You should look up “revocation” in the Oxford English Dictionary. Then look up “aluminium”. Check the pronunciation guide. You will be amazed at just how wrongly you have been pronouncing it. The letter ‘U’ will be reinstated in words such as ‘favour’ and ‘neighbour’, skipping the letter ‘U’ is nothing more than laziness on your part. Likewise, you will learn to spell ‘doughnut’ without skipping half the letters. You will end your love affair with the letter ‘Z’ (pronounced ‘zed’ not ‘zee’). You will learn that the suffix ‘burgh is pronounced ‘burra’ e.g. Edinburgh. You are welcome to respell Pittsburgh as ‘Pittsberg’ if you can’t cope with correct pronunciation. Generally, you should raise your vocabulary to acceptable levels. Look up “vocabulary”. Using the same twenty seven words interspersed with filler noises such as “like” and “you know” is an unacceptable and inefficient form of communication. Look up “interspersed”. There will be no more ‘bleeps’ in the Jerry Springer show. If you’re not old enough to cope with bad language then you shouldn’t have chat shows. When you learn to develop your vocabulary then you won’t have to use bad language as often.

    2. There is no such thing as “US English”. We will let Microsoft know on your behalf. The Microsoft spell-checker will be adjusted to take account of the reinstated letter ‘u’.

    3. You should learn to distinguish the English and Australian accents. It really isn’t that hard. English accents are not limited to Cockney, upper-class twit or Mancunian (Daphne in Frasier). You will also have to learn how to understand regional accents – Scottish dramas such as “Taggart” will no longer be broadcast with subtitles. While we’re talking about regions, you must learn that there is no such place as Devonshire in England. The name of the county is “Devon”. If you persist in calling it Devonshire, all American States will become “shires” e.g. Texasshire, Floridashire, Louisianashire.

    4. Hollywood will be required occasionally to cast English actors as the good guys. Hollywood will be required to cast English actors to play English characters. British sit-coms such as “Men Behaving Badly” or “Red Dwarf” will not be re-cast and watered down for a wishy-washy American audience who can’t cope with the humour of occasional political incorrectness.

    5. You should relearn your original national anthem, “God Save The Queen”, but only after fully carrying out task 1. We would not want you to get confused and give up half way through.

    6. You should stop playing American “football”. There is only one kind of football. What you refer to as American “football” is not a very good game. The 2.15% of you who are aware that there is a world outside your borders may have noticed that no one else plays “American” football. You will no longer be allowed to play it, and should instead play proper football. Initially, it would be best if you played with the girls. It is a difficult game. Those of you brave enough will, in time, be allowed to play rugby (which is similar to American “football”, but does not involve stopping for a rest every twenty seconds or wearing full kevlar body armour like nancies). We are hoping to get together at least a US rugby sevens side by 2011. You should stop playing baseball. It is not reasonable to host an event called the ‘World Series’ for a game which is not played outside of America. Since only 2.15% of you are aware that there is a world beyond your borders, your error is understandable. Instead of baseball, you will be allowed to play a girls’ game called “rounders” which is baseball without fancy team strip, oversized gloves, collector cards or hotdogs.

    7. You should declare war on Quebec and France, using nuclear weapons if they give you any merde. The 97.85% of you who were not aware that there is a world outside your borders should count yourselves lucky. The Russians have never been the bad guys. “Merde” is French for “Shit”. You will no longer be allowed to own or carry guns. You will no longer be allowed to own or carry anything more dangerous in public than a vegetable peeler. Because we don’t believe you are sensible enough to handle potentially dangerous items, you will require a permit if you wish to carry a vegetable peeler in public.

    8. July 4th is no longer a public holiday. November 2nd will be a new national holiday, but only in England. It will be called “Indecisive Day”.

    9. All American cars are hereby banned. They are crap and it is for your own good. When we show you German cars, you will understand what we mean. All road intersections will be replaced with roundabouts. You will start driving on the left with immediate effect. At the same time, you will go metric with immediate effect and without the benefit of conversion tables. Roundabouts and metrication will help you understand the British sense of humour.

    10. You will learn to make real chips. Those things you call French fries are not real chips. Fries aren’t even French, they are Belgian though 97.85% of you (including the guy who discovered fries while in Europe) are not aware of a country called Belgium. Those things you insist on calling potato chips are properly called “crisps”. Real chips are thick cut and fried in animal fat. The traditional accompaniment to chips is beer which should be served warm and flat. Waitresses will be trained to be more aggressive with customers.

    11. As a sign of penance 5 grams of sea salt per cup will be added to all tea made within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, this quantity to be doubled for tea made within the city of Boston itself.

    12. The cold tasteless stuff you insist on calling beer is not actually beer at all, it is lager. From November 1st only proper British Bitter will be referred to as “beer”, and European brews of known and accepted provenance will be referred to as “Lager”.

The substances formerly known as “American Beer” will henceforth be referred to as “Near-Frozen Gnats’ Urine”, with the exception of the product of the American Budweiser company whose product will be referred to as “Weak Near-Frozen Gnats’ Urine”. This will allow true Budweiser (as manufactured for the last 1000 years in Pilsen, Czech Republic) to be sold without risk of confusion.

    13. From December 1st the UK will harmonise petrol (or “Gasoline” as you will be permitted to keep calling it until April 1st 2012) prices with the former USA. The UK will harmonise its prices to those of the former USA and the Former USA will, in return, adopt UK petrol prices roughly $6/US gallon – get used to it).

    14. You will learn to resolve personal issues without using guns, lawyers or therapists. The fact that you need so many lawyers and therapists shows that you’re not adult enough to be independent. Guns should only be handled by adults. If you’re not adult enough to sort things out without suing someone or speaking to a therapist then you’re not grown up enough to handle a gun.

    15. Please tell us who killed JFK. It’s been driving us crazy.

Tax collectors from Her Majesty’s Government will be with you shortly to ensure the acquisition of all revenues due (backdated to 1776).
