When I wish upon a star,
It’s not to find out where we are,
It’s not to learn what my day will hold,
It’s not about money, or gems, or gold.
When I wish upon a star,
I sometimes think we’ve gone too far,
Too far from kindness, friendship and caring,
Into a world of privacy and not daring …
When I wish upon a star,
It’s because I do know who we are,
We remember the towers and how they fell
And how loudly chimed America’s Liberty Bell.
When I wish upon a star
I wonder why we now have Czars;
I wonder how far we’ll let things go
Before we realize this ain’t no game show!
When I wish upon a star,
I hope we haven’t gone too far
From character, integrity, and simple kindness,
Far from our early moral brightness.
When I wish upon a star,
I wonder if there’s a superstar
Waiting in the wings, moral courage to bring,
America’s freedom bell again ringing!

Barb, this should be made into a song! I wish for these things too, especially a superstar to get us back on track. Of course, a few bucks in my checking account wouldn’t hurt either…
I actually sang this to the disney theme – when I wish upon a star …makes no difference, etc, etc, etc …
Sometimes I laugh at myself for still being so idealistic this late in life (although there’s much more to come), but … as long as there’s life, there’s hope, right???
Oh I wish I could help in some way … I’m so proud of your efforts here and those you share with us. Don’t give up! Sooner or later, something’s bound to give! 🙂
Like they say, when you give up your dreams, you die. Hope is a form of self-preservation, right?
Thank you for your kind thoughts. I really enjoy your forthright posts, honest and clear without the arrogance or dogma I see so much of. The title of your blog couldn’t be more fitting.
First, but not last time here. great blog and great post. thank you 🙂
