A sad little girl sat pondering her life, though only 12 years old was she. She pouted and stormed around her house. She was never seen to smile.
She cried and cried alone was she, for no one could stand her mourning. She paced back and forth, tears streaking her face, and wondered why no one embraced her.
She grew and grew and little by little, she started to see outside. She saw other kids laugh, and she saw others kids play, still no one approached her at all.
This puzzled this dear one, and caused her to think, think hard about what others knew. They knew how to laugh, and they knew how to play, but they didn’t know how to break through.
This sad little girl, became a melancholy young lady, and still her depression grew. Alone in the dark, she pondered her fate, and waited for her knight in white armor.
Alas, sighed she, wherever can he be, this courageous, magnificent Savior … When lo and behold, as she called out his name, He claimed her and set her aflame.
Nay, not just an ordinary candlelight flame, but a richer, much brighter zeal. She turned her eyes outward and opened them wide, and soon purposeful joy overwhelmed her.
“When you look away from the weight you bear,” she said as she turned again and looked outward, “Then suddenly all that appears unfair, seems only a trap to impair.”
This week’s Inspiration Monday entry. Prompt used: When you look away You’re wonderful, BEKINDREWRITE

On November 9 – 10, 2011, many of our neighbors will revisit a painful, horrendous memory – to them it is known as ‘Kristallnacht’ or ‘Crystal Night’. What took place on November 9-10, 1938 brings the events of ‘Crystal Night’ into perspective, and it is now our obligation to learn and to remember so that massacres of this nature never happen again. The horrors that were released across Europe carried Western Civilization into some of its darkest, most uncivilized times. We must never forgot so that such attrocities may never be repeated.
On “Crystal Night,” or “The Night of the Broken Glass,” Jewish homes, shops and synagogues were broken into across Germany, and many were trashed and burned, as storm troopers and civilians attacked Jewish properties, shops and homes with anything that could cause damage. Ninety-one Jews were killed and 30,000 Jewish men were taken to concentration camps, beginning the nightmare that would eventually lead to the murder of six million Jews – one of the most vile times in human history. “The Night of the Broken Glass” was only the beginning … and still, persecution of Jews continues in many venues, but it has taken a new face, a new name, a new boldness, but the West, like in the late 30’s, remains silent.
To remember this evil and incomprehensibly terrible tragedy, The Oak Initiative is again setting aside the month of November to honor our Jewish neighbors. We are asking all of our Oak Initiative chapters and members to contact their Jewish neighbors, Jewish synagogues, or cultural centers and let them know how much we appreciate them and are honored to have them as neighbors. We also want to express our belief that the Jewish people have fulfilled the promise of God to Abraham that his descendants would be a blessing to every family on the face of the earth. If you can, please purchase and give to them a gift of crystal as a token of our appreciation for them, and how we are resolved to stand with them and never let the tragedy that befell them in Europe ever be forgotten, or happen to them again.
Afterwards, we would enjoy hearing stories and testimonies of your results. Please send an email to office@theoakinitiative.org and share them with us.
We encourage you to also watch the following video from Don Finto on The Importance of Israel.

No government can endure, no human can remain faithful, no system of laws or obligations can hold against the sway of human corruption. People fail us, systems fail us, laws fail us, church, synagogue, or mosque will fail us … the person of Jesus never, never fails.
1. My hope is built on nothing less
than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
but wholly lean on Jesus’ name.
Refrain:
On Christ the solid rock I stand,
all other ground is sinking sand;
all other ground is sinking sand.
2. When Darkness veils his lovely face,
I rest on his unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
my anchor holds within the veil.
Refrain:
On Christ the solid rock I stand,
all other ground is sinking sand;
all other ground is sinking sand.
3. His oath, his covenant, his blood
supports me in the whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way,
he then is all my hope and stay.
Refrain:
On Christ the solid rock I stand,
all other ground is sinking sand;
all other ground is sinking sand.
4. When he shall come with trumpet sound,
O may I then in him be found!
Dressed in his righteousness alone,
faultless to stand before the throne!
Refrain:
On Christ the solid rock I stand,
all other ground is sinking sand;
all other ground is sinking sand.
Yes, there is a real hope, but it will cost us. It will cost us some of our comfort. It may cost us some leisure time. We may have to come face to face with … personal sacrifice. We will have to resume ownership of our own personal lives, our needs and wants. We will have to choose between slavery and freedom. We will have to choose between responsibility and dependency. What is REAL FREEDOM worth to you?
“Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8: 31-32

inObama Usurps State’s Rights to Grant Contract to Planned Parenthood
Washington, D.C. – Marjorie Dannenfelser, President of the Susan B. Anthony List, released the following statement today in response to a decision by the Department of Health and Human Services to award more than $1 million in federal funds to Planned Parenthood clinics in New Hampshire.
“In June, the state of New Hampshire exercised its right to decline renewal of a $1.8 million contract with Planned Parenthood of New England, which operates clinics – including those where abortions are performed – in the state. It is well within the purview of the New Hampshire state government to decide not to continue to subsidize America’s abortion giant with taxpayer dollars. Instead of honoring the decision of New Hampshire’s Executive Council, Obama has once again allowed his unwavering support for the largest provider of abortions in our country to take precedent. The people of New Hampshire deserve to have the representatives they elected make the decisions they were elected to make without fear of President Obama usurping those decisions to curry favor with his political ally – Planned Parenthood.”
In July, SBA List held a rally in Concord, New Hampshire to show support for the Council’s vote, and urged them to stay the course. Including New Hampshire, eight states have successfully defunded Planned Parenthood to the tune of nearly $60.4 million. PLEASE READ MORE
The issues concerning legalized abortion continue to fester just below the surface of politics and everyday life. The numbers of babies aborted is alarming as are the reasons for doing so … none of which include the over used arguments used in support of abortion. It’s not about money, or rape or for medical reasons. It’s all about convenience. As in many avenues of American life, we don’t want to take responsibility for our behavior. We deserve to play. We deserve to party. We deserve choices. YES, to all of the above, but at some point, we also have to grasp that our behaviors, and decisions have CONSEQUENCES! If you put your hand into the flame, it WILL get burned, like it or not. SO … if you do not want to get burned, avoid putting your hand – or anything else – into the flame!Our civilization has chosen to remain juveniles … children. Remember how badly you wanted to grown up when you were a kid? Well … DO IT! Just sayin …

She may be old and worn, and she may fly over a nation in turmoil, but she waves still over the land of the FREE and the home of the Brave!
Don’t run, and don’t try to hide
Your head under the sands of “I’m too busy,”
The party ended early, and your help is needed now.
The clean up crews are working, but gaining little ground,
One person more, one person will do the trick,
And break the power of apathy that binds us,
One person more, please, just one,
For five minutes of freedom,
Isn’t it worth a little thought and care?
Please, don’t run, and don’t try to hide,
The Truth will find you out,
And bring a different kind of heart attack;
An attack of compassion and conscience,
An attack or responsibility and gratitude,
An appreciation for our unique history,
Under the banner of the Red, White, and Blue.

(Read the Lyrics below)
For many years, it has been my contention that God’s priorities and mine were not the same. Teachers of Biblical ideas taught satisfaction, that God wants His people, His children to prosper, to be healthy, to be “blessed.” It was insinuated that we were “favored” above non-believers. It was then assumed that if some “evil” befell you, there must be sin in your life or at the very least, a lack of faith. This, however, was not what I witnessed in or outside the Church-at-large.
Through the years, I’ve seen many people healed of various diseases and crippling conditions. I’ve seen blind eyes opened. I’ve seen deaf ears unstopped and new limbs grown or damaged ones repaired. Some, but not all. Why?
Does God love some better than others? NO! Does He require more of some than others? NO! What is the difference? Why are some healed and not others? Why are some rescued from addictions, but not all? Why do horrible things happen to good and caring people?
It has slipped into the mentality of many Christians that they are somehow exempt from life’s tragedies. That because we give our lives to Jesus to manage, the storms of life will pass by us. We skip over Jesus’ words, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33 NKJV)
Where did we ever get the notion that we were “above” the troubles of this life? I don’t know, but it’s a reality in many congregations to the point that when tragedy does strike, as it always does, the victim is left alone. The other “sheep” scatter unable or unwilling to deal with the hurt, the suffering, the difficulties, whatever they may be because it doesn’t line up with their trouble-free theology.
Today, there are millions, yes, millions of believers OUTSIDE local assemblies because of “friendly fire” incidents. (“Friendly fire” is when members of the same army, on the same side, wound one another accidentally or intentionally!) Something as seemingly innocuous as divorce or a child’s drug addiction or even poor grades is enough to bring on the “gossiper-prayer chains” and bring separation. Assumptions are made, insensitive and unkind words spoken, and insult is added to injury.
At some point, if the Body of Christ is to be healthy, she must learn to embrace suffering as Jesus embraced his own. We must apprehend God’s purpose even if we do not always like His methods. It’s time for Christians to once again, become more “OTHERS” focused and less self-indulgent and learn to love as God loves, less judgmental and more compassionate. God will always take care of our NEEDS, but not always our wishes, wants or desires. It seems God is less interested in our temporary comfort than He is our eternal condition. This is a very GOOD thing!
Both of these songs illustrate my point. Give a listen and ponder the lyrics.

* HELD lyrics:
Two months is too little
They let him go
They had no sudden healing
To think that providence
Would take a child from his mother
While she prays, is appalling
Who told us we’d be rescued
What has changed and
Why should we be saved from nightmares
We’re asking why this happens to us
Who have died to live, it’s unfair
This is what it means to be held
How it feels, when the sacred is torn from your life
And you survive
This is what it is to be loved and to know
That the promise was that when everything fell
We’d be held
This hand is bitterness
We want to taste it and
Let the hatred numb our sorrows
The wise hand opens slowly
To lilies of the valley and tomorrow
This is what it means to be held
How it feels, when the sacred is torn from your life
And you survive
This is what it is to be loved and to know
That the promise was that when everything fell
We’d be held
If hope if born of suffering
If this is only the beginning
Can we not wait, for one hour
Watching for our savior
This is what it means to be held
How it feels, when the sacred is torn from your life
And you survive
This is what it is to be loved and to know
That the promise was that when everything fell
We’d be held
[Repeat Chorus]
*BLESSINGS lyrics:
We pray for blessings, we pray for peace.
Comfort for family, protection while we sleep.
We pray for healing, prosperity.
We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering.
All the while, You hear each spoken need.
Your love is too way too much to give us lesser things.
Cause what if your blessings come through raindrops?
What if your healing comes through tears?
What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You’re near? What if trials of this night, are Your mercies in disguise?
We pray for wisdom, Your voice to hear.
We cry in anger when we cannot feel You near.
We doubt Your goodness, we doubt Your love.
As if every promise from Your word is not enough.
All, the while, You hear each desperate plea.
And long that we’d have faith to believe.
Cause what if your blessings come through raindrops?
What if your healing comes through tears?
What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You’re near? What if trials of this night, are Your mercies in disguise?
When friends betray us, when darkness seems to win;
We know that pain reminds this heart, that this is not, this is not our home.
It’s not our home.
Cause what if your blessings come through raindrops?
What if your healing comes through tears?
What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You’re near? What if my greatest disappointments, or the aching of this life;
Is a revealing of greater thirst that a world can’t satisfy?
And what if trials of this life, the rain, the storms, the hardest nights; Are Your mercies in disguise?
