Where is the OUTRAGE? Or is EVERYTHING about Politics?

Yes, there are many outrageous things happening in the United States of America these days. Corruption, compromise, and more corruption from the Oval Office all the way down through the ranks and social strata to the streets. While it may seem like a oversimplification, the ROOT of the problem is simple: Godlessness!

Now, before you totally shut me off, let me ask an age old question, debated through the centuries: Can morality exist without God?

If by morality, we mean a personal system of boundaries, then the answer is maybe. But if by morality we mean a cultural system of boundaries that reflects and aligns with our system of laws, then the answer must be NO! In a culture that acknowledges God, (by “GOD” I refer to a non-specific super deity,) as America did until the 1960’s, there is a universal code of behavior that is generally accepted as RIGHT, and similarly, a set of behaviors that are considered WRONG.

When God is removed, suddenly everything is up to the individual. Right and Wrong become relative: what I believe is right & wrong may not be the same as what you believe, so then whose ideas do we follow? This is where America is right now, and there is evidence every place you look, from the push by a tiny fraction of the America population (some 2%) for same-sex marriage – not content with civil unions (why not, if the legal rights are the same?) – to a significant segment of the population glorifying the gangster lifestyle with ultra misogynistic tendrils and required violence – from the willingness on the part of illiterate college students to sign a petition in support of FOURTH TRIMESTER ABORTION (say what?) to an abject dissociative relationship with the reality of the various scandals and breaches of our Constitution, it seems a large portion of our population is logically (mentally) disengaged! I don’t know how else to interpret the daily news, do you?

Glenn Beck’s Emotional Monologue on the Horrific Story He Says Is Being Swept Under the Rug Because It Doesn’t Further an ‘Agenda’

Glenn Beck confronted society’s morality on his television program Thursday evening, shocked and disgusted at the events of recent weeks.

He primarily focused on the horrific report of a 13-year-old girl who was allegedly gang raped by up to ten men in Austin, TX, before being sexually assaulted by another man after being dropped off with “nowhere to go.” Doctors said their findings were consistent with the allegations.

“Where is the outrage? Where’s Al Sharpton?” Beck said, pausing briefly with emotion. “Where’s Barack Obama? Shouldn’t the president give a speech saying something like, ‘This girl could have been my daughter, after all my daughter is just turning 14?’ …How about speeches on the dangers of letting illegals live in the shadows? How about the speeches of let’s just be good to each other? Where are the marches?”

President Barack Obama spoke several times about 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, who was shot by George Zimmerman in what a jury recently ruled was self defense. The president said Martin could’ve been his son, or even could’ve been him 35 years ago. The issue aroused sustained national fury over the death of the 17-year-old.

But Beck said the 13-year-old girl should expect no such support.

“See, nobody really actually cares about people anymore,” Beck said. “It’s really only about politics. It’s not about Trayvon Martin. They had to make him look like a little 13-year-old-boy…Why? Because it would help them get elected, or re-elected, or get them to cause trouble or get more trouble. But see this little 13-year-old-girl, you don’t have to doctor a picture of her…she is 13.”

He continued: “We are witnessing a society that is completely detached, and we are detached because we have an agenda. Why didn’t we tell the story of the 13-year-old-girl? Because of an agenda. The second rapist was black, the others were illegal immigrants, so we don’t tell that story. That’s not a good story, that doesn’t help us with our agenda…”

Before we can remember who we are as Americans, we must LEARN more about how our FOUNDERS saw things! Their world, after all, was a bit different than ours is today. An astounding assembly of remarkable men, though far from perfect, these men were able to put aside their personal religious and political views to find a harmonious balance that penned The Founders’ Unchanging Principles of Liberty. An experiment in freedom that allowed the individual power over his own life.

Over the last few decades, but especially over the last 3 years, we, the American people, have allowed our government to turn America into a tyrannical state. We are the only ones who can change this!

Political parties did not exist in 1789. Washington despised the idea of political associations, formed in such a way as to pit one group of citizens against another. In his farewell speech in 1796 he said:
[While speaking on the subject — The very idea of the power and the right of the people to establish Government presupposes the duty of every individual to obey the established Government.]

“All obstructions to the execution of the Laws, all combinations and associations, under whatever plausible character, with the real design to direct, control, counteract, or awe the regular deliberation and action of the constituted authorities, are destructive of this fundamental principle, and of fatal tendency. They [political parties] serve to organize faction, to give it an artificial and extraordinary force; to put, in the place of the delegated will of the nation, the will of a party, often a small but artful and enterprising minority of the community; and, according to the alternate triumphs of different parties, to make the public administration the mirror of the ill-concerted and incongruous projects of faction, rather than the organ of consistent and wholesome plans digested by common counsels, and modified by mutual interests.

“However combinations or associations of the above description may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely, in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people, and to usurp for themselves the reins of government; destroying afterwards the very engines, which have lifted them to unjust dominion.”

Rather than political parties, our Founders saw a different political spectrum than we are used to seeing. Most of us have been taught, if anything, that Democrats are left-leaning and Republicans are right-leaning, but left and right of what? What is the center? How does one measure Left and Right?

In his incredible book, A Miracle that Changed the World: The 5000 year Leap, Skousen suggests our Founders sought to find the balance between Tyranny and Anarchy. Tyranny being total centralized power in one person our a small group of persons (monarchy) versus Anarchy – “no government, no law, no systematic control, and no governmental power.” The yardstick is power, rather than political parties. Skousen defines the opposites in terms of who has the power. The Founders’ objective was to find a balance between the two extremes. With tyranny, all power rests at the top with the “king,” so Skousen calls this Ruler’s Law. The opposite, he calls PEOPLE’s Law because the people have the power to control the government, “and political power is maintained at the balanced center with enough government to maintain security, justice, good order, but not enough government to abuse the people.”

Sadly, what we see in today’s America is much closer to what Skousen calls Ruler’s Law, or tyranny! Here are a few evidences from his list:

“3. The people are not equal, but are divided into classes and are all looked upon as “subjects” of the king.

“5. The thrust of governmental power is from the top down, not from the people upward.

“6. The people have no unalienable rights. The”king giveth and the king taketh away.”

“8. The ruler issues edicts which are called “the law.” He then interprets the law and enforces it, thus maintaining tyrannical control over the people.

“9. Under Ruler’s Law, problems are always solved by issuing more edicts or laws, setting up more bureaus, harassing the people with more regulators, and charging the people for these “services” by continually adding to their burden of taxes.”

Our Founders were remarkable men, and the fact that such a concentration of incredibly gifted, creative, articulate, educated men gathered together at the conception of America is nothing short of miraculous. None could mange to come up with a Constitution alone. It required four months of discussions and arguments to find the balance they sought. They succeeded! In spite of the ridicule from various individuals today, our Constitution stands strong, the longest surviving Constitution, binding together what has proven to be the most successful experiment in governing in history.

Have you realized that from the dawn of time through the birth of America, civilization progressed only so far. Yes, a wheel and fire were found, but little else in that vast expanse of time, and yet in the mere 236 years since America’s birth, we have not just fire, but lasers, not just carts pulled by horses, but jets and space crafts landing on the moon. We have medicines based on scientific research, not just superstition. Think of all that have transpired just in your, or your parents’, or your grandparents’ lifetime. In the early 1900’s the electric light did not yet exist. Cars did not exist. And certainly, there were no McDonald’s! This explosion of innovation and invention was PERMITTED by LIBERTY like the world had never known! This liberty, our Founders believed was unalienable because it came from Providence, from God. Jefferson referred to Providence as “Nature and Nature’s God,” in the writing of the Declaration of Independence.

When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bonds which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

Why are we, as Americans, allowing our liberties to be stripped from us?

Why is CONGRESS not functioning in its capacity to control the Administrative branch?

Why do we, the people, sit back and let our government seize control of our life, liberty, and our pursuit of happiness?

WHY? BECAUSE WE ARE IGNORANT!!!!! We are unaware, unlearned in the Constitution. We might know the preface, the Preamble, but not the concepts. The GOVERNMENT is supposed to work FOR us, not condescend to report to us lies and half-truths. We, as adult Americans, must assume the mantle of authority laid upon us in our Constitution and hold our elected officials accountable TO the US Constitution. With FREEDOM, comes responsibility! If we don’t, the liberties we have known will not survive for our grandchildren to enjoy.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: W. Cleon Skousen (January 20, 1913 – January 9, 2006) was educated in Canada, the United States and Mexico. He received his law degree from George Washington University and was admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia. He served in the FBI 16 years, became a member of the faculty of Brigham Young University in 1951, and was given a leave of absence to become Chief of Police in Salt Lake City in 1956. In 1960 he became the Editorial Director of LAW and Order, the most widely distributed police magazine in the U.S. He is also the author of several books including The Naked Communist and So You Want To Raise a Boy?. Prior to his passing, Mr. Skousen traveled and lectured in 29 foreign countries and 43 of the 50 states. His largest audience was 15,000 in the Hollywood Bowl.

What Does FREEDOM Feel Like?

It’s the nature of FREEDOM, a natural yearning born into the soul of Mankind, a yearning to live free, to do as one wishes, to tend ones own land, crops, home and flourish in self-reliance. Humans are created to overcome catastrophes, challenges, and tribulations. It’s in our DNA! We are resourceful, imaginative, and clever. That’s the UP side of human nature. That’s at least part of the reason we crave FREEDOM.

Choices define our Freedom

Freedom … ah, just the sound of the word is like a spring breeze. But freedom only stretches so far. At some point, your freedom will bump into mine simply because we are all wonderfully unique. At the “bumping point,” it is imperative that something, a system of LAWS, rules or morés be established to define the boundaries. Otherwise we have precisely what exists now at the various “Occupy” locations i.e anarchy. Anarchy is simply might makes right. If I’m strong enough to “keep” it, it’s mine; if not, it belong to whoever takes it from me. Most civilized people realize this behavior results in chaos. To maintain and establish order, something has to define lawlessness.

We have surveyors to define our property boundaries. Laws define our behavioral boundaries. It is beneficial to the population if these LAWS are known and understood, posted for all to see so that conflicts may be both easily resolved and even avoided altogether. The US Constitution is our LAW – or it’s supposed to be. (but that’s for another day)

What I want to discuss here is what freedom means. Is it defined by freedom of speech or freedom of expression? Is it no rules?

“Where did we go off track, Barb? what happened to that America? What happened to us?”
This was a response left by a friend to a former post: Where Has America Gone?

Do you know? Here’s my take:

Where did we go off track? We have forgotten our ROOTS, our Judeo-Christian heritage and the common sense virtue that came with it. It seems to me everything fell apart in the 60’s. When we were busy tearing down questionable and corrupt authority, we were naive enough to disregard basic human nature, which in my estimation, is selfishly corrupt. We mocked and rebelled against organized education, religion, family, … just about everything “organized,” but replaced it with only chaos or anarchy. People simply cannot thrive without reasonable boundaries. Today, parents don’t know how to establish ANY boundaries, let alone reasonable ones. Discipline, self-control, and self-reliance are a dirty words, as are responsibility and accountability. Boundaries and discipline used to mean, “I am loved enough to be taught the RIGHT way.” Now it is abuse! But that is where I always return … the disintegration of the family – the nucleus family: 1 dad, 1 mom, 2.5 kids, 1 dog or cat! Again, now, anything goes. I don’t have a problem with same-sex unions, but they are NOT “marriage.” As a WORD person, it concerns me deeply that the militants don’t want to create their own word for same sex unions, they want to re-make the standard definition of marriage to include … ANYTHING. It’s from order and establishment to chaos in 40-50 years. It’s one thing to replace a set order or establishment with another design, but we didn’t. We just “let the chips fall where they may.” Now we’re reaping the consequences of rebellion and chaos. Anything goes.

What happened to our America? Without structure, the “essence” of America began to erode. Was this intentional? No clue! But I don’t think at this point it really matters. The damage is done. Self-indulgence and greed rule the day from Wall Street to Main Street. We gravitate to our private “den’s” and bemoan our sorry state, loneliness as the #1 national illness. Until WE THE PEOPLE emerge from our sleep, and re-take the reins of our present, we have no future to offer our children and grandchildren. At least, not a future in a FREE America.

What happened to us? Somehow, as the moral fiber of our nation was slowly compromised, the population at about the same pace, became lazy, uninspired, and unmotivated. We have grown increasingly dependent on the government for just about everything from food to jobs, to our education, our information (via the gov’t backed media), to our homes. While our individual independence and self-reliance made America great, our dependence, fear and compromised morality lulled us to sleep while the “bad” rolled over us like a moral fog blurring our vision and understanding.

This may be a simplistic way to see the overwhelming decline is all things solid, moral, trustworthy, and sacred, but it puts the blame where it needs to be … on me, my generation, the hippies, love children, … the BOOMERS! It’s OUR mess! God, give us a way to deal with it constructively!

Americans now are overtaxed, over-regulated, and overly dependent on the federal government! These things must change for America to thrive again.
