About Moi?

I’ve been a child, a mother, a daughter, a soldier, a sister, a wife, a singer and musician, a teacher, a student, a lover, a friend, a reader and a writer.

Well, seriously, I have had the joy of many professions. The proverbial Jacqueline of all trades, mistress of none am I. My adult life began as a soldier upon completion of my BA from Gordon College in MA. I served for 3 eventful years in the later half of the 70’s, after the mess of Viet Nam. When my tour was over, I opted to work in a civil service position at the military base where I last served, Ft Greeley, AK. I loved Alaska, and I didn’t want to leave, but family obligations called me back to Pittsburgh, PA.

Over the next few years, I moved again to Yuma, AZ, married a soldier, and moved to Furth, Germany where we started our family with the birth of our first daughter. In 1985, we moved back to the USA and to Pittsburgh. Our family soon grew with the addition of a son and our first home. I was privileged to be a stay-at-home mom although we were certainly not wealthy. Our third child came along in 1989, another daughter.

When our youngest daughter was 18 months old, I took a job as a music teacher in a local private school. That quickly exploded into a greater opportunity. I taught American and British literature, along with grammar, composition and a sign choir elective for several years, while our children attended the school.

The dawn of the 21 century brought the end of my marriage. The pressure of teaching overwhelmed me, and I took a sabbatical time that evolved into “retirement.” Since that time, I have enjoyed a number of interesting, if not challenging, people oriented jobs. I’m not rich in cash, but I am very wealthy in memories, experience, and relationships and that is what really counts!

Islam teaches their children about hate, killing and martyrdom at a young age,and they realize their true calling is that they must kill the children of the “book” (Jews and Christians”…the west teaches their children how to be lackadaisical, killing digital zombies and how to become only reactive at a young age, and realize their true life calling is focus on fun, games and electronics…big difference here

    • So nice of you to stop by and share here. Thank you for your service – much more than I … but I was grateful for the chance to serve and those memories are still rich to me.

What’s happening in USA today is such a frustration … I’m sure you share it. So hard to watch the lack of appreciation for our rich heritage and high calling!

Continue to fight the good fight, as God gives you strength!

    • Welcome aboard! Let me know what you think as you look around. Lots of conservative speak and call for improved morality. We’ve walked away from our Godly heritage and the morality that stems from it and now we’re paying! I look forward to getting better acquainted, my friend!

    • Happy to welcome you, Jason! The more, the merrier, right? Like you said, I look forward to folllowing your work and viewpoints & work toward a Conservative victory in 2012! YEEHAW!

  20. love you blog!! It is beautiful !! Don’t quit because we need every voice!

Thank you so much for all you do!

    • Welcome aboard & Merry Christmas! The more voices the better, for sure! I think there are many in the shadows not yet quite willing to openly take a stand, but many are talking & praying for the good people of America to rise up & put a stop to the tyranny threatening the very foundations of our nation! Good will conquer evil … eventually, but we can make it sooner! 😉

    • Thank you for stopping by & MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

  21. Hello barb; I’ve been fighting a vicious sinus/bronchial infection since Christmas. Am much better now. I had received an interesting comment on my recent posting (the one where I’d left a link to your “he holds my hand” post.) It was about dispensationalism, and the rapture. I went back and clicked on one of the links. All I can say is Oy Vey!
Your response to End Times Revelations about not believing in a “pretrib rapture” is scriptural. Here is my response to this person, who (it seems)took great liberties with His word:

OK – I’m commenting; not condemning… The Scripture you referenced, Rev12:7-12 (I suggest you re-read the PRIOR chapters in Revelation) occurs after many other cataclysmic events at the tribulation. You tread on dangerous ground by attempting to put dates on events known only to God.
This is similar to people, who in defiance of scripture, attempt to set a date on Christ’s second coming, of which ONLY God the father knows. Not even Christ nor the angels have this knowledge. Matthew 24:36:
“But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.” KJV
Matt 24:30-31 is a description of His coming, and then describes his elect being gathered. (the Rapture)
NOT NEGOTIBLE! NO MORE NEEDS TO BE SAID.

    ETR’s statement:
Revelation 12:7-12 reveals when Satan and his angels (demonic forces) were hurled down to the earth, which signified the beginning of End Times. This event occurred on June 30th, 1908 at 7:17am over Siberia…

    • I’m relieved to hear you are on the mend! I suppose it is just human nature to attempt to, once again, put God in a box we can measure by putting times and dates to things beyond our intellectual digestion! I know I do it all the time, but … I also always come to the conclusion that if I can put God in a box I make, he is not big enough to gain my worship, so I must be looking in the wrong direction! BUT … if my eyes are on Him, He will get me where I need to be as necessary!

  22. Barb, please check your Spam – it happened again. “X”

    • I think Santorum is walking a thin line trying to remain on the offensive and avoid the defensive stance. He is also trying to stay above the henpecking between Romney and Gingrich. There’s is still plenty of time to clearly enunciate his stand on the many issues, and while he is not the perfect Conservative, it may simply be that no one recently has defined Conservatism on its three (at least) levels. He is certainly not as well known as Romney, has far less money than Romney, and fewer organized campaign offices, and yet he is slowly moving up in the polls, and now, nearly every poll shows him is second place. I find that impressive! 🙂

  23. freedom by the way ‘hit the nail on the head,’ “you’ve had an interesting life.” That said, I’m sure it’s not been w/out it’s share of angst (especially when a single mom) and all lives are fraught w/ ups and downs. It’s how we deal w/ those ups ad downs, that ‘separates the men from the boys!’

  24. Partnership, how to prevent spam? I receive a lot, too? Don’t know those posts get thee (I probably should, but I don’t!)

  25. Sarah Palin was so right on in here CPAC speech. We need competition in the primaries to determine which candidate is the best for our country. The left will attack enough; “we don’t need to do their job for them, or make their job easier~”

    • I’m not sure there is anything we can do about the spam, but check it before deleting. I didn’t listen to Sarah’s speech, but I did hear that she was good … as always! I also agree that competition is a good thing, but I also think Conservative leaders need to take a stand behind one of the candidates. To wait until the Nominee is selected seems to defeat the purpose of the primary process to me. The point is to choose the candidate that most closely represents our personal ideals. There is one for everyone! If we vote for someone because we think (and are told) they’re the only one who can win, the purpose of the primary is defeated! Sarah need to pick someone. It seems Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck have chosen Rick Santorum. Not sure about Hannity.

  26. If you mean me, annie, I am as much at the behest of WP “askimet” as anyone. I have taken to checking my spam file every day, so if someone has tried to leave me a comment I can correct the error.
The last 2 wks were why I blogged on Vanishing Posts.

  27. barb, is changing pw going to help? My aksimet catches some but lots still ‘gets through’ about 30 a day.

  28. I’ve chosen my ‘someone,’ but I think we ought to let the primary process play itself out. That said, I think the GOP needs to talk the issues and prove to the GOP (and hopefully other people) WHY they’re the best choice to be at the helm when we change course.

As far as the mud-sliunging: STOP!! The left will do enough; we don’t need to do it for them…

Any way, thank you kindly for your encouraging words & welcome to my humble, but wordy, home! I look for ward to your comments on our debates and observations as we labor to wrestle back the reins of authority from the progressives!

  30. Wow, you wanted to stay at Ft Greely/Delta Junction? You must be a tough lady 🙂 They say the wind in Delta only stops blowing in the winter for just second, as it pauses to change direction. I like windy areas, but not when it’s -30, -40,-50 etc.. The cold doesnt bother me in Fbks because it doesnt blow, and wind doesnt bother me in the Matsu because its not cold. Nice blog, my first time looking, keep up the good work.

    • Wow! Hey howdy to Fairbanks & vicinity! It’s been – like 30 yrs! Hahaha. I loved it up there – such majestic & rugged beauty! Untouched (then) by stupid humans!)

  34. Over two yrs; a long absence. You O.K.?
