About Moi?

I’ve been a child, a mother, a daughter, a soldier, a sister, a wife, a singer and musician, a teacher, a student, a lover, a friend, a reader and a writer.

Well, seriously, I have had the joy of many professions. The proverbial Jacqueline of all trades, mistress of none am I. My adult life began as a soldier upon completion of my BA from Gordon College in MA. I served for 3 eventful years in the later half of the 70’s, after the mess of Viet Nam. When my tour was over, I opted to work in a civil service position at the military base where I last served, Ft Greeley, AK. I loved Alaska, and I didn’t want to leave, but family obligations called me back to Pittsburgh, PA.

Over the next few years, I moved again to Yuma, AZ, married a soldier, and moved to Furth, Germany where we started our family with the birth of our first daughter. In 1985, we moved back to the USA and to Pittsburgh. Our family soon grew with the addition of a son and our first home. I was privileged to be a stay-at-home mom although we were certainly not wealthy. Our third child came along in 1989, another daughter.

When our youngest daughter was 18 months old, I took a job as a music teacher in a local private school. That quickly exploded into a greater opportunity. I taught American and British literature, along with grammar, composition and a sign choir elective for several years, while our children attended the school.

The dawn of the 21 century brought the end of my marriage. The pressure of teaching overwhelmed me, and I took a sabbatical time that evolved into “retirement.” Since that time, I have enjoyed a number of interesting, if not challenging, people oriented jobs. I’m not rich in cash, but I am very wealthy in memories, experience, and relationships and that is what really counts!
