The Bible, Jesus and LIFE
From a series on Biblical issues in Public policy
It’s been nearly 40 years since Roe v Wade, and one might think the issue had been settled, but for the constant simmer of indignation among those who believe life begins at conception. The Bible is my ultimate authority on this, and every issue on life, and though some may argue that it is outdated or old-fashioned, until someone proves something else to be better, I’ll stick with what I know to be true. If you have a scripture that is contrary to this, please feel free to share it below that we may debate the issue.

On that note, the Bible says in Gen 2: 7 (NKJV) “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.” God is the Author of Life. There is no life outside of him.
- President Barack Obama supports abortion rights. And his health care law requires contraceptives to be available for free for women in workplace health plans. Even more extreme, there is some debate whether President Obama supports Infanticide.
- Gov Romney has been endorsed by Dr John Willke. “The doctor (Dr John Willke) known as the founder of the pro-life movement has endorsed former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney in his bid for the Republican presidential nomination…
“Unlike other candidates who only speak to the importance of confronting the major social issues of the day, Governor Romney has a record of action in defending life,” Dr. Willke said. “Every decision he made as governor was on the side of life. I know he will be the strong pro-life president we need in the White House, Governor Romney is the only candidate who can lead our pro-life and pro-family conservative movement to victory in 2008.”…
Romney says “I am pro-life and believe that abortion should be limited to only instances of rape, incest, or to save the life of the mother.
“I support the reversal of Roe v. Wade, because it is bad law and bad medicine. Roe was a misguided ruling that was a result of a small group of activist federal judges legislating from the bench.”
Paul, when separating “religion” from Christ, explained in Acts 17: 24 “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. 25 And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else. 26 From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. 27 God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. 28 ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’
Abortion should not be used as a means of contraception. There are plenty of other methods that work. One a life is conceived, it is a life! There are millions of couples waiting for babies.

Matthew 7: 1 – 5 says “Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. 3 And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your own eye? 5 Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
What most non-believers fail to comprehend is that those of us who hold life sacred understand that life begins at conception. An attacker who kills a pregnant woman is guilty of two lives. Everything essential to the adult human being is present in that fertilized egg as it adhere’s to the mother’s womb. It is a child. Unborn, yes, but a child. ALL life is sacred! Unborn, ill, weak, old … all are sacred lives which must be protected. It is our responsibility to guard the lives of these who are unable to protect themselves. Is that not what Jesus taught?
Abortion supporters argue it’s the woman’s choice because it’s her body. Logic says, she made her choice (unless raped or in a medical emergency), and must take responsibility for her choice and do the adult thing. The baby isn’t able to voice his or her choice, but it should be assumed they choose LIFE! There are millions of happy and productive adults who started life … unexpectantly, but their mom’s allowed them LIFE. How many do you know?
