Open Letter to Mitt Romney from Active Duty Service Member
The following was sent to us by an active duty service member currently serving abroad, and is published here with his permission:
-
Dear Mr. Romney,
I serve my country and have done so for a decade – the thought of another four years of our current direction saddens me. If you do not win, I and many others may find ourselves unemployed as massive cutbacks begin to take hold. It is frightening to picture our warriors standing hopelessly in unemployment lines; this is a fate they do not deserve. There is a paradigm shift occurring, and it is doing so at an astounding pace. We are becoming a nation that does not honor its protectors. We have begun to take from them and to take them for granted… This is a result of the chasm that has widened over the last few decades… A chasm of indecency and selfishness.
Please allow me to explain. Our policies have begun to shift towards victimization; we laud the individual that has always taken and never given. We empower dependency and encourage its advocate. We force those who have already given so much to give more. How long will our nation sit by as its heritage of strength and fortitude is laid to waste? I am saddened as I ponder all those who have made the greatest of all sacrifices… Have their souls been laid to rest in vain?
I am hopeful that someday I can call a man such as yourself my Commander in Chief. But, for now I serve in the Middle East. I and many like me stand watch over our nation. We wear her flag and protect her honor. We are her keepers. We sit silently as crowds gather on Wall Street to profane her name and exercise their right to free speech. We have always protected even those that do not appreciate the awesome price of their freedom.
This may never make it to Mr. Romney… But know this sir; the service members that have sacrificed so much these past 11 years are tired. We cannot afford to sacrifice more; we cannot stand in unemployment lines as policies destroy what we’ve shed blood to build. Many in the Armed Forces are pulling for you… We need you to win; we need you to pull our country from the brink. Please work hard for those that have always given for our nation. Our brothers’ bodies have left their imprints on the battlefield, their blood has stained the soil of foreign nations, and tears wet the cheeks of those they leave behind. The price is great, it demands the blood of the brave and bold, and it calls for the lives of those filled with courage. Yes… It is a terrible price, but our flag must always fly. Our nation is a lighthouse for all who seek freedom; it guides them as they navigate the rocky shoals of liberty. I implore you sir – remember the sacrifice, remember the price and win.
Sincerely,
A Guardian of Freedom
Yes and the narcissist in chief wanted to hold active duty military pay hostage in the previous budget deficit talks. This in my view constitutes TREASON
Yes, marriagecoach, I do agree wholeheartedly, and cannot understand why there
is no known action, that we have heard of to impeach this narcissist, when there is
reason upon reason to do so.
My fear is that the Military vote will not be counted. We know that our Heroes don’t support him and so does Obama
My active duty daughter says everyone she knows supports Romney! But she has still not received her absentee ballot even though she requested it in August!
There must be some local Congressman’s office you can contact in her behalf or put you in touch with someone who can track down her and I fear others absentee
ballots. Lets please not let him win by all the underhanded tactics; This guy is
totally unconscienable. Thank heavens our military has not seen our USA flag
REDESIGNED by Obama, in lieu of the stars is HIS logo, and the stipes are
reduced to a few red smears.
In PA, it is up to the county election board, whom I have called 3 times in regards to my daughter’s absentee ballot as an active duty deployed soldier! My daughter has confirmed her receipt of the ballot and she filled it out immediately and returned it the same day. I am Judge of Elections in our district, so if I do not see her name on the list of absentee ballots, you KNOW I will be making some noise!!! 🙂
This gentlemen elequently said it. To which I might add, I had seen our USA flag
redesigned by the Obama group and the Obama logo replaced the stars, and the stripes were reduced to a few red smudges. Absolutely obsene. Hope Mitt inquires
about that, along with the status of the military absentee ballots ….MIA
A most touching, but truthful, letter from the active duty serviceman. Clearly I, as a veteran and voter, think exactly as this guardian of our freedoms. Mitt Romney must win this election–we cannot tolerate nor afford the present guy in the White House! He does not love our country, our veterans, our servicemen. He neither likes the Constitution nor the established course it set for us over 200 years ago. The Capitol used to serve as a church where services were held by many different Founding Fathers. BO wants to abolish this by putting in place “executive orders” and “czars” that will steer around Congress, take our freedoms and leave us open to takeover. This is treasonous, totally unspeakable. I will not stand for this present thinking. When I went on active duty, I was sworn to “uphold & defend the Constitution…. against all enemies, foreign or domestic…”, and you know, that oath was never taken away from me when I received my Honorable Discharge many years later. I will continue to fight for our country on whatever level it takes. May God continue to bless our servicemen wherever they are!! Thank you for keeping us safe.
Amen, my brother! I served as well and took the same oath not to serve the government or the President, but to support & defend the Constitution of the United States of America, and as long as she exists … as long as I draw breath, that is my duty and my joy! Thank you for your service, and … fight on!
I just want to thank all our brave men and women and their families
I pray daily and ask God to bless and protect each of you , Again thank you
