Mr. Conservative
I recently asked my neighbors’ little girl what she wanted to be when she grows up. She said she wanted to be President some day. Both of her parents, are liberal Democrats, were standing there, so I asked her, ‘If you were President what would be the first thing you would do?’
She replied, ‘I’d give food and houses to all the homeless people.’
Her parents beamed with pride.
’Wow…what a worthy goal.’ I told her, ‘But you don’t have to wait until you’re President to do that! You can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, and sweep my yard, and I’ll pay you $50. Then I’ll take you over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house.‘ … READ MORE
I would eliminate the debt by cutting all the frivolous government spending (a lot of endless cutting to do), then I would focus those freed up money on helping domestically–yes, including temporary recovery programs for those with the most obstacles (age, disability, etc.) and some financial incentives for businesses to keep jobs at home. After inflation is quelled by eliminating inflationary spending and the economy begins to finally recover as the dollar is strengthened, then these domestic aid programs will be discontinued. I would have to be a dictator to accomplish this, so it’s a moot point.
I forgot to add a rebate check for everyone who worked and paid an inflation tax out of their earnings on goods and services due to government inflationary spending.
Well … I’m no Paul Ryan w/ numbers, but it sounds like some intersting ideas! 🙂
I didn’t even have to hit the read more, to be able to fill in the rest of that conversation. It’s amazing how many people want to do good, until they find out how hard and how much work it takes to do good. My wife and I raised a good conservative family. But their kids are now raising a generation of entitled children. One nice thing about this is I’m old enough I will not be around to see this generation of entitled children take over.
Ha! I had that same conversation with my kids over the holidays. My 1st grandbaby is due in March & already her room is filled with every posible do-dad & thing-a-ma-gingy imaginable. I bought them “A Children”s Book of Virtues” for Christmas! It breaks my heart to see the moral decline you & I have witnessed. What small sphere of influence I have yet, I will push & prod for moral virtue! 🙂
Good post!
Just a couple of observations and a question.
We don’t trust politicians.
Most of us turn our children over to the public school system for their education.
Why are we surprised by the the results?
Tom – exactly! State run schools = state’s agenda! Thanks, Tom!
