“[D]emocracy will soon degenerate into an anarchy, such an anarchy that every man will do what is right in his own eyes and no man’s life or property or reputation or liberty will be secure, and every one of these will soon mould itself into a system of subordination of all the moral virtues and intellectual abilities, all the powers of wealth, beauty, wit and science, to the wanton pleasures, the capricious will, and the execrable cruelty of one or a very few.” –John Adams, An Essay on Man’s Lust for Power, 1763
OMG.
And consider this as well: “Revolutions” led by mobs often result in a whole new oppression. The mob becomes the new enforcer. I hear the Muslim Brotherhood has gained much power since the Egyptian protests. Greece’s protests are turning violent. Keep yourself safe Barb, and consider getting a CCW if you don’t already have one.
These creatures don’t have a damn thing in common with our founding fathers.
And those watching laughed??? Such fun! Like there’s a real statement there!
I guess my naivte is showing but what’s CCW?
Conceal and Carry Weapon. It’s called different acronyms depending on the state. They did away with them in AZ, which we think is a big mistake because taking the classes and learning the laws and gun safety is essential. Plus I just believe in them, if you’re going to carry you should have a permit, period. You should obviously educate yourself and practice but a lot of people don’t.
It was a lot harder to get a permit back in CT. I’m unsure of the laws in various states—for example it must be very hard to get one in NY or Washington DC, where most criminals have guns but the laws against citizens carrying are very strict.
Anyway, we live in a dangerous area and a dangerous world and carry at all times. We practice frequently and reload our own ammunition. We are dead serious about our right to defend ourselves.
I am still so shocked by that picture. I try not to read too much about the protesters because I get too stressed out, but I have to ask, since they all love Obama so much, why isn’t he addressing them? How can they have so much support? How can any rational person think this is the way to change America? How does this picture not make people sick?
You ask obvious and excellent questions. Obama has said several times he supports them. The unions are well represented. Many college profs are encouraging, even requiring their students to participate, and there are ads on Craigslist to pay protestors upwards of $20/hr … again by unions.
I actually asked my kids for a weapon for Christmas! Lol I’m not sure they trust me w/ a weapon, but I need to educate myself on sidearms etc. All I know is what I learned in the Army years ago! What kind do you have … may I ask?
Barb, that was a great post, about Holder.
I will add you this week to my roll.
I am LAZY 😦
Barb, I carry a Taurus .327 six-shot revolver. My partner carries a Springfield 9mm. Hard to believe but my smaller gun actually kicks more, it’s all about the design. That’s why I practice so much. But it’s simple to use, less to think about in a life-or-death situation, very safe to carry, and I’m comfortable with it. There are many smaller guns available, such as the Beretta .25 pistol I used to carry.
We are not vigilantes. This is all about self-defense. I sleep with my cell phone and the revolver on the night table next to me, with my dogs all around. News says Obama wants to repeal the second amendment. No way, no way, no way.
My son & I were talking today about it. A friend of his has a .38 he is selling through a local shop. He thinks he will learn it first, then pass it to me & he’il get something else. We’re moving slowly, but I have a friend that will take me shooting with her to a club locally! Friends are a good thing, eh? Just be safe, my friend! 🙂
