Take the time to listen/watch this video. It;’s an IMPORTANT speech!
Interesting video. I don’t mean to be argumentative, but you do realize that Sarah Palin is merely parroting what she hears from people like Ron Paul, right? Ron Paul has been talking about “crony capitalism” for decades.
You are welcome to your opinion, however Sarah and Ron are not even close … maybe on the economy, but NOTHING else! RP is an isolationist and he’s deluded in thinking the evil in the world will go away if we look the other way, stick our heads in the sand and play dead. Yes, exactly … he talked about “crony capitalism” for decades and no one listened because of his OTHER ideas and policies. Sarah makes it palatable because she makes sense on ALL the issues!
Ah, I see.
So generally speaking, what do you see as the “correct” foreign policy for the United States to follow? Do you think that the Bush regime followed the correct path?
By the way, Ron Paul is not an isolationist. Don’t believe everything that you read and/or see on television. Ron Paul believes in free trade with all nations. In fact, it’s the “conservatives” that believe in protectionist tariffs, international sanctions, etc who are actually “isolationist”. Besides being unconstitutional, all of these abuses of the executive branch decrease free trade and effectively “isolate” the United States from it’s neighbors.
Oh, by the way, what is Sarah Palin’s foreign policy like?
I’m glad to discuss issues with you if you will refrain from “condescension!” You are certainly entitled to your opinion, and as long as you know why you believe what you do, I am fine with that. It’s not about “CORRECT” and “INCORRECT”, but rather about what works and what doesn’t as evidenced by history and uncommon common sense!
When I say that Ron Paul is an “Isolationist,” I’m speaking, (in his words) militarily. He wants to bring all our troops home and close all or most of our bases on foreign soil. That is just plain foolishness. He believes the Al Qaeda statements that blame 9/11 and other subsequent “terrorist” attacks on the American presence in Saudi Arabia. The point is, IF … and that is the key … IF America has an interest in a specific location (i.e.oil AND maintaining access of the SUEZ CANAL), it behooves us to protect our interest. IF, however, America has no vested interest, than our presence is not required. As long as the US is dependent on foreign oil, it is in our own best interest to PROTECT that interest militarily, if necessary. If, we are there simply to “stabilize” a government or regime … then, again, it depends on Congressional approval AND our interest. As far as FREE TRADE is concerned, no, I do not believe America should trade with nations that harbor known “enemies” to our way of life … Al Qaeda, Taliban, Hamas, etc … Nor do I believe America should trade with governments that threaten the security of Israel.
The military error in Iraq and Afghanistan, as it was with Vietnam, is not our presence, but the lack of stated mission and definition of “mission accomplished!” It is waging war on public opinion based on media coverage that itself costs American lives.
As for Sarah … ?
“The Palinite wing of the Tea Party (after Sarah Palin) wants a vigorous, proactive approach to the problem of terrorism in the Middle East, one that rests on a close alliance between the United States and Israel. The Paulite wing (Rand Paul) would rather distance the United States from Israel as part of a general reduction of the United States’ profile in a part of the world from which little good can be expected.”

Hey, sorry it took me so long to respond.
It’s a month later, but I wanted to get your opinion on a couple things:
A) http://www.ronpaul2012.com/2011/10/21/sarah-palin-praises-ron-pauls-foreign-policy/
^^In the above link, there is video of Palin on Hannity’s show. She says:
“You’ve got to give it to Ron Paul. Whether you agree with everything he says or not, at least he is one there in Congress trying to make our President stick to the law and understand that Congress does have a role to play in these foreign policy decisions that are made and Ron Paul, I think hit the nail on the head, when he came out and said Obama had better be careful when he interjects himself and our country in other nations’ business.”
Do you think Sarah is wrong for supporting Ron Paul’s “isolationism”(as you refer to it).
B) Do you think that Palin should be applauded for her vote in 2008 where she voted in favor of:
“Two-state solution for Israel/Palestine is a top priority.”

Thanks for your patience with me. I’m trying not to be condescending. I’m sorry if I come off that way. It’s interesting to talk with a full-blown neo-conservative. I usually don’t run into you guys that often, so it’s interesting to ask some questions. Thanks for your time!
It’s all rather a moot point, since she is not running, don’t you think? I do not, never have agreed with ANY candidate on EVERY issue! and no, I do not agree with Palin’s 2 state solution for Israel and Palestine. You do like to affix labels, though, don’t you? neo-conservative? Whatever you say! I don’t think you have read very far in my blog. You might find it interesting, if you have the time. Or not … ?
