An everyday, unending stream of illegals cross into USA
“Illegal immigration is out of control, especially across the US border with Mexico.
Estimates of illegal immigrants living in the United States:
Up to 20,000,000 (Bear Stearns Report, January 2005)
10,000,000 to 12,000,000 (Federation for American Immigration Reform, 2005)
11,000,000 (Pew Hispanic Research Center, 2005)
10,000,000 (Center for immigration Studies, 2004)
The rate of illegal immigration is increasing
1990′s: 700,000 to 800,000 annually
2000 – 2004: over 1,000,000 annually, and climbing (CIS)
The number of illegal immigrants in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia increased almost 70% from an estimated 300,000 in 2000 to 500,000 in 2004 (PHRC)” READ ON
Alabama governor signs nation’s toughest immigration law
“Jun 9, 2011
Republican Governor Robert Bentley on Thursday signed into law a crackdown on illegal immigration in Alabama that both supporters and critics consider the toughest in the nation.
Under the new measure, police must detain someone they suspect of being in the country illegally if the person cannot produce proper documentation when stopped for any reason.” READ MORE
DNC Chair: Republicans Believe Illegal Immigration ‘Should be a Crime’
“Jun 1, 2011
“Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D.-Fla.), chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, denounced Republicans last week for believing illegal immigration “should in fact be a crime.”
“I think the president was clearly articulating that his position–the Democratic position–is that we need comprehensive immigration reform,” said Wasserman Schultz at a Christian Science Monitor Breakfast on May 26.
“We have 12 million undocumented immigrants in this country that are part of the backbone of our economy and this is not only a reality but a necessity,” she said. “And that it would be harmful–the Republican solution that I’ve seen in the last three years is that we should just pack them all up and ship them back to their own countries and that in fact it should be a crime and we should arrested them all.” READ ON
Obama’s Hypocritical Rhetoric on Immigration Reform
“May 16, 2011
“Barack Obama’s immigration speech in El Paso May 10 was an exercise in electioneering and hypocrisy. Hypocrisy because while Obama complained about “politicians” blocking comprehensive immigration bills, he was one of them himself.
“In 2007, when such a bill was backed by a lame duck Republican president and had bipartisan backing from Senate heavyweights Edward Kennedy and Jon Kyl, Sen. Obama voted for union-backed amendments that Kennedy and Kyl opposed as bill-killers.
“In 2009 and 2010, President Obama acquiesced in Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s decision to pass cap-and-trade and bypass immigration and in Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s decision not to bring an immigration bill to the floor.” READ ON
The Proposed Fence Design
“Securing our borders is the first step in any serious immigration reform plan.
The first priority of the federal government is national security.
National security is inherently incomplete if it does not include border security.
Technology and the rise of internationally organized terrorism have made it possible for individuals to carry small weapons that can produce devastation on a scale that previously required armies, missiles or squadrons of aircraft.
We are a nation of immigrants, and it would be contrary to our history and cherished American values if we were to close our borders to legal immigration. However, illegal immigration is another matter, constituting a threat to both our national security and our economy.
The border with Mexico must be secured first. That’s where the biggest problem is.
The Canadian border is about 1,000 miles longer than the Mexican border, yet the vast majority of illegal immigration occurs across the Mexican border.
It is not unreasonable to think about the need for a northern security fence once a southern security fence is in place and working.” READ ON
It is horrible that people suffer in other nations. HORRIBLE! But the more illegals that come across the border, the fewer jobs for struggling Americans, the lower the average pay (because employers can pay illegals less), and the more American assistance they use up in place of needy Americans. If they want the benefits of our great & generous nation, they must become citizens, go through the process, jump through the legal hoops to become an American citizen. Then, feel free to take advantage of our dwindling wealth while it lasts!
