Former U.S. Senator, Rick Santorum (R-PA) has made a bold decision to campaign for the presidency by speaking the bald truth. He is known to do so regularly. Speaking at a New Hampshire Lincoln-Reagan dinner he “defined” terrorism – something our Department of Homeland Security still has not done – as “evil,” and “jihadism.” Santorum said Sharia Law is not compatible with America because of our Constitution, and made the point that a vast majority of Muslims living in the West want no part of Shariah Law, speculating their decision to leave their home country was likely due to living under Shariah Law.
“Jihadism is evil and we need to say what it is,” he said at the Strafford County Lincoln-Reagan dinner, remarks that show how the former Pennsylvania senator continues to establish himself as the candidate most-aligned with the Republican Party’s conservative base.
“We need to define it and say what it is. And it is evil. Sharia law is incompatible with American jurisprudence and our Constitution.”
“Sharia law is not just a religious code. It is also a governmental code. It happens to be both religious in nature an origin, but it is a civil code. And it is incompatible with the civil code of the United States.” Politico
I expect all serious conservatives on the campaign trail to speak out about Islam. What do we do with a population that believes Shariah Law is “God’s Law?”
Santorum also spoke about revamping “government run schools,” using school vouchers, and funding Head Start to bring the children into the Democrat fold. Rick Santorum is a solid conservative. I hope he receives the respect and attention he deserves for tackling some of our most important issues. I can’t really say I have heard Romney, Gingrich or Dr Paul talk much about Islam and the looming threat both domestically and in the Middle East. President Barack Obama naively and cavalierly once declared Iran as a “tiny country” that did not pose a serious threat. However, this week’s report by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) now shows that these radical Islamists are on the verge of having a nuclear weapon.
If Barack Obama has taught us anything, it’s that experience matters. Rick Santorum has that experience – serving 8 years on Senate Armed Services Committee, authoring the Iran Freedom and Support Act in 2004 and the Syrian Accountability Act. In fact, Rick Santorum has recognized the looming threat of Iran’s nuclear ambitions for nearly a decade – standing tall against both Republicans and Democrats who have discounted and dismissed the reality that this radical theocracy is intent on destroying Israel and western civilization.
