The State Department has undertaken the giveaway in the guise of a maritime boundary agreement between Alaska and Siberia. Astoundingly, our federal government itself drew the line to put these seven Alaskan islands on the Russian side. Women’s Rights: Abortion, Contraception, Islam

The debate over a woman’s right to choose what happens to her own body has raged now, for decades, with no softening in the passion. Interesting, huh? The liberals thought the issue was cut & dried, but even though they got their way making abortion is the law of the land, the polar divide between the Pro-life segment and the Pro-abortion segment is just as far apart as ever. Maybe more so with Rick Santorum taking the lead in the national polls.

There are a few issues involved in this debate.

1. LIFE happens on conception: yes or no?

2. RESPONSIBILITY – If a women is old enough to have consensual sex, she is old enough to protect herself from an unwanted pregnancy: True or False? (By the way: cost of the birth control pill, per month: $9 while the cost of the morning after pill: $20-30)

3. LOGIC – “Ooops” is not sufficient cause to terminate the life of the unborn child: True or false?

4. Then there’s the money issue. Women on public assistance get “paid” for the number of children they have, yet there is no incentive to “refrain” either from sex or from pregnancy. It’s not about birth control; it’s about promiscuity which is rampant in our “free sex,” or “sex without strings” society.

There has been over the past few years, a subtle swing back toward a more conservative stand on abortion. While many still favor an exception for cases of rape, incest, and medical emergency, most Americans do not favor abortion simply for the sake of convenience. This is what has prompted the Contraception controversy now in the tabloids. President Obama knew he couldn’t take a winning stand on abortion, so he prompted this contraception debate. In reality, though, it isn’t about contraception. It isn’t even just about religious rights. It is about personal freedom! While Santorum is the one taking the heat for “wanting to get into the women’s bedroom,” it is Obama who is already in our bedrooms, our kitchens, our children’s bedrooms working very hard to make decisions FOR us since he is certain he knows better than we do.

Now, President Obama has taken things a step farther. He has included in the unconstitutional Obamacare bill, a MANDATE (not a choice) that contraception, including abortives, must be included in healthcare plans provided by employers – including faith-based employers. He has taken the choice OUT of the hands of the individual and put the responsibility on the employers – on government, and the taxpayers will still pay, though now it is through the insurance agencies.

Personal freedom is not free. Contrary to those protesting in various cities across the land, while we are guaranteed certain unalienable rights: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, we are NOT guaranteed the results of our pursuit will be riches, or fame, or “success”, or even happiness. We are guaranteed the right to pursue happiness.

Does Rick Santorum really want to regulate your bedroom?

Simple answer: HECK NO!

Detailed explanation: Rick Santorum is a real person with real values in a nearly valueless society. That is the issue. Some people might think he is old fashioned or dorky in his sweater vest, but he is a grassroots social Conservative. Over the years, we have heard his beliefs spoken, and they, frankly, are biblical stands against the “sexual freedom” that has evolved since the 60′s. While there are behaviors that are personally and socially destructive, as you may recall, the bible is also big on “loving your neighbor.” There is a separation, admittedly some religious folk fail to observe, which commands the loving (compassion, caring) of each individual, even those whose behavior we may find unacceptable. The same holds true for an elected official. While we may disagree with a behaviors, the individual is still endowed with the same unalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The SAME rights – not special rights!

The foundation of Santorum’s beliefs rise from his deep respect for LIFE. “In a 2008 campaign forum, Pastor Rick Warren asked, “at what point does a baby get human rights, in your view?” Obama answered, “Well, you know, I think that whether you’re looking at it from a theological perspective or a science perspective, answering that question with specificity, you know, is above my pay grade.” But as an Illinois State Senator, Barack Obama articulated a very clear view of when a baby was granted rights. He was the only senator to vote against the Born Alive Infants Protection Act in committee; legislation that protected babies who survived an abortion and were born alive. He was the only senator to speak against it on the senate floor.”

President Obama, the MSM, and the Progressive-liberal left, and even some within the GOP have a mistrust for Santorum because he is not a party puppet. He has his own ideas about which he is quite passionate. Among these is a deep devotion for the documents that define our nation: The Constitution of the United States and The Declaration of Independence. The Constitution, Santorum describes as the “Operator’s Manual.” it is the how-to for our Constitutional Republic. It defines the rights of freedom the Declaration states. The Words within the Declaration, however, establish our right to FREEDOM, our rights as endowed by our Creator to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It is not the government that bought us freedom. It was not another nation that allowed us our freedom. It was our Creator – the Creator of all men, who created us all equally endowed with certain unalienable rights which no man ought to wrestle from our hands.
