Like our Founding Fathers before us,
We’ve reached our breaking point,
Freedoms fought and died for,
Are changed and out-of-joint,
Taxes, and more taxes rip,
Our earning power to shreds,
While fat-cat politicians,
Jump the power-monger beds,
And folks like you and me,
We try to do everything that’s right,
But everyday that changes,
What the hell is polite?
Long ago in Boston towne,
Brave people heard the call,
And took the mantle of freedom,
And shared it, one and all.
They took responsibility,
For Freedom’s weighty call,
And found the common ground
Among them, and then stood tall.
They bucked the tide of tyranny,
They spoke with one voice,
“No, we will not settle, Sir,
For less than our choice!”
Like our Founding Fathers before us,
We’ve reached the end of our rope,
Diametrically opposed factions
Threaten America’s united hope.
The Left wants pure equality,
Spread across the board,
No matter one’s contribution,
No penalties, no rewards.
The Right holds out for Freedom’s hope,
Each one his own life’s captain,
To choose a course and Work it,
And discover Work’s rich bastion.
A hand up or a hand out,
That’s the choice we face,
Slavery to the system, or
A chance to run the race.
Oh, please, choose well and wisely,
Or dull your mind with lies,
Equality cannot be equal,
Nor Freedom compromise.
The very root of freedom, you see,
Must be the choice to be,
Whatever, whomever,
One truly wants to be.
But what’s not earned is junk, you know,
Easily tossed out,
While Freedom’s wealth is never free,
But costly beyond a doubt.
Can We-the-People make the choice,
And stand against the tide
Of tyranny and complacency,
And the angry words that divide, or
Can we turn our hearts to God again,
And remember our amazing past,
Can we stand together as one nation,
And take back our land?
