How long will we let the Liberal political elite, (if you think only Conservatives are rich, you’re sadly mistaken!) make personal, moral, and financial decisions concerning our future?
“We all know the metaphor for dangerous incrementalism: put a frog in a pot, slowly raise the temperature, and the frog will boil to death. For generations, liberalism has cleverly coordinated the country’s slow, incremental push leftward: exploiting sympathies for the poor and sick to expand all things government and hammering the benefits of social justice, diversity, and multiculturalism to expand government into a centralized behemoth. The 2008 financial crisis provided cover for further governmental expansion, ushering in the presidency of Obama. With a nation on the ropes and control of the White House and Congress, liberalism had a straight path to its inveterate goal: irreversible European-style socialism here in the U.S. Fortunately, unchecked hubris triggered a reversal that may well save this nation.” Read more …
In the 60′s, the liberal left won some major battles while good people went about their business unaware. The legalization of abortion and the removal of prayer from schools most notably. Today, we are reaping the product of the disintegration of Social mores fed primarily by the liberal teachers’ unions working through our public education system. “The role of education as an agent or instrument of social change and social development is widely recognized today.” (Education and Social Change) From the removal of prayer from schools, to fewer students including the The Pledge of Allegiance in their morning routine, to a-moral and irrelevant curricula, and the struggle for discipline in public schools, public education is taking our society in the wrong direction.
In their effort to sterilize the historically American culture, schools move to the extreme of removing all traces of American culture under the guise of DIVERSITY which is only skin deep. Where America used to be a “melting pot,” the various and rich cultural differences are now being used to re-segregate us by emphasizing our differences. The whole notion of the “melting pot” was that each of the any various cultures BLENDED together, each maintaining its own uniqueness, but adopting also the American Way, which was shared in common. AMERICAN ENGLISH was the language of America, not French, not any of the Native American tongues, not Spanish – AMERICAN ENGLISH – uniquely ours! In many public schools, favorite holidays are now transformed into unrecognizable things:
Christmas has evolved into a celebration of the Winter Solstice in total disregard for other seasonal celebrations
The birthdays of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln are devalued and slurred together for a Presidents’ Day that is given little relevance.
The history of our Founding Fathers is rewritten with an un-Godly slant. Heroes of old are remade into blithering idiots, or over zealous radicals, or simply bigots as liberals re-write our illustrious history.
I propose that the bottom line issue is the failure of the American morals. Because the liberal agenda has been slowly pushing up the boil since the 60′s, cursing our varied, devout religions and their impact on our happiness, the moral bar has fallen to the ground. Regardless of the fact that most major religions and many secular groups as well, agree that there are certain character traits that every healthy adult should demonstrate – things like:
Trustworthiness: Be honest • Don’t deceive, cheat, or steal • Be reliable — do what you say you’ll do • Have the courage to do the right thing • Build a good reputation • Be loyal — stand by your family, friends, and country
Respect: Treat others with respect; follow the Golden Rule • Be tolerant and accepting of differences • Use good manners, not bad language • Be considerate of the feelings of others • Don’t threaten, hit or hurt anyone • Deal peacefully with anger, insults, and disagreements
Responsibility: Do what you are supposed to do • Plan ahead • Persevere: keep on trying! • Always do your best • Use self-control • Be self-disciplined • Think before you act — consider the consequences • Be accountable for your words, actions, and attitudes • Set a good example for others
Fairness: Play by the rules • Take turns and share • Be open-minded; listen to others • Don’t take advantage of others • Don’t blame others carelessly • Treat all people fairly
Caring: Be kind • Be compassionate and show you care • Express gratitude • Forgive others • Help people in need, and
Citizenship: Do your share to make your school and community better • Cooperate • Get involved in community affairs • Stay informed; vote • Be a good neighbor • Obey laws and rules • Respect authority • Protect the environment • Volunteer
This information is from the Character Counts website, a secular program I whole-heartedly support. It is a viable program for public schools nationwide, and has been adopted in some school districts, but not enough! I encourage you to explore the website and learn about the program, and then PUSH for it in your local schools. As a former teacher, this program is well designed and well thought out with color coded activities for all ages. Lesson plans are available too! Question is, are there enough adults qualified to teach it?Have to walk it before you can talk it! Can there be any valid argument against these or similar programs? How vital are they to the future of our students? to America?
Some other thoughts on the subject:
It has been said of the world’s history hitherto that might makes right. It is for us and for our time to reverse the maxim, and to say that right makes might. Abraham Lincoln
It is better to deserve honors and not have them than to have them and not deserve them. Mark Twain
As Obama and the Liberal left continue to turn up the heat hoping the American people, like the proverbial frog, will not notice until its too late, and the America we grew up with is only a memory … the vast majority of Americans are either ignorant of the sly hand at work or they just don’t care. Morality and character flow, as a habit, from the top down. Because we see immorality amongst our leaders (political, religious, and business,) the general population assimilates what is “accepted” behavior. We see marital infidelity almost daily. We see dishonesty and an unwillingness to focus on positivity. We see cheating, lying, stealing, and many forms of greedy self-indulgence. We know better! Our parents and grandparents taught us better. Maybe this time, morality can flow from the grassroots upward, and we can re-establish our moral infrastructure!
