Certainly never in my lifetime, have the American people been more strongly divided. Lead by an administration that ran on “hope and change” and a concept of unification, President Obama continues to blame the ills of our current situations on former administrations. Using rhetoric as smooth as glass, he mocks the responsibility, integrity, and intelligence of the American people by telling them over and over how much better the government is at making decisions for our best interest. Ya!
When I ask myself why such negativity is accepted, the only answer I find is the sensationalist media that seeks to polarize the American people for its own purpose, i.e. to make money! People KNOW this but still believe the trash dispensed. The more fear they can inspire, the more news they sell. Sadly, Americans from every echelon of society, every political affiliation, every religious orientation have, at one time or another, fallen for the vicious propaganda seen on both sides of the political aisle. Its getting worse, though. Meaner. More outrageous … and still the American population buys it. Why?
Why do these ads work so well? The 2012 Guide to Negative Political Ads explains it this way:
LESSON TWO: No thinking required. Maybe the candidates should be color-coded according to their stance on a particular issue, then if, for example, you like the “PURPLE” position, you don’t even have to know names, just flip the PURPLE buttons!
There was a line in the 1990 film, Pretty Woman, where Julia Robert’s character says, “The bad stuff is easier to believe. You ever notice that?” It’s true! So we buy all the negative ads, all the negative propaganda and use that to make our decisions whom to support or vote against. Really? That’s the best we can do?
I find it appalling that those from whom we are to select our leaders choose to sink tho such pitiable tactics as name-calling – like kids in the play yard. Worse yet, is to intentionally deceive the public by purposely distort the opponent’s stand on a vital issue. We, like dumb sheep, follow blindly … Is independent thinking too much to ask?
ON POINT: FOUR BUDGETS, NO DEMOCRATIC VOTES! Our duly elected representatives at work! UGH!
Really? FOUR MORE YEARS of THIS? Obama: ‘If They Bring a Knife to the Fight, We Bring a Gun Then again, “President Barack Obama has turned fearmongering into an art form. He has repeatedly raised the specter of another Great Depression. First, he did so to win votes in the November election. He has done so again recently to sway congressional votes for his stimulus package.” He continues to do this to promote his agenda. Whether it is opening the Mexican/US border, spreading our military forces impossibly thin across the globe in situations that do not involve America, spending, spending, spending … or Apologizing for America across the world’s stage, President Obama continues to make a mockery of America and freedoms which she so diligently represents.
Just so you know, remember all the passion of the Presidential election of 2008? Guess what the total percentage of actual voters showed up at the polls??? No, really, guess! National Voter Turnout in Federal Elections: 1960–2008 I’ m not telling you! Look it up! (Click the link!) I’d like a little less talk from BOTH the candidates AND the whiners within the non-voting public! If it’s too much trouble to vote, then quit your belly-aching. If you like paying $4/gal for methanol spiked gas, food prices going through the roof, an executive branch that ignores the constitution for its own agenda which involves taking from successful, hard-working Americans to give to many who choose not to work at all … then, please enjoy your recliner! Sorry to disturb you!
